Using Power Words in Your Writing
Last week we learned about CTAs (Calls to Action) and how crucial it is to implement them in your online presence. While you’re writing these CTAs and trying to engage your viewers, we also know there are certain “power words” that are both historically and psychologically known to make an impact on one's decision-making process. In order to be truly effective, Power Words have to do a few things: evoke emotion, curiosity, and communicate in a way that your audience easily understands.
We’d like to help you with some Power Words that you can use in your writing. Oftentimes, it is the simple words or short phrases that wind up having the most profound effect.

When writing out your posts, each post has to have a purpose. Whether it is to inform, add value, persuade, entertain, or build community - you want to ensure what you’re putting out there has a crystal clear purpose.
When we were taught to write, what was one of the most important concepts our teachers taught us? Make sure you answer the 5Ws: Who, What, Where, When, and Why. It's now time to combine it all together! Take a look back at your social media campaigns and ads: Aside from a Clear CTA and incorporating Power Words, are you answering those 5W’s? If not, go back to the drawing board!
Your biggest takeaway: These words alone don’t mean much, but it’s how you combine them together in a way that makes sense to your audience and your goals. Enough emotion needs to be evoked so that your audience actually FEELS something. They need to feel compelled and convinced enough to take action. That is how the magic happens. This takes time and practice and oftentimes a second, third, or fourth opinion! We find it can be as simple as a rearrangement of one sentence that makes all the difference.
Either way, as we see in our daily lives, there is an overwhelming amount of information out there. In between all of the scrolling, how will you stand out? Inform and entertain, but above all - make it worth their while to stop scrolling and engage!
