The #1 Mistake Businesses Make...
You can't be everything to everyone all at once! The message loses its impact.
You've heard of a target market before. You know what it is. In business, the word is thrown around all too often. Sure, we know the basics of it, we know why we need to have one, but in order to be truly successful, we need to dig deeper.
By saying your target market is everyone, you’re basically saying that not one specific group of people can find any special appeal to your product or service. Go back and read that again. And that is not a good look. Of course, you want your product or service to appeal to the masses and you want everyone around to drink your brand’s coffee, wear your logo on their sweatshirt, and have your services be their go-to. Anyone could purchase your product or service, but not everyone will. Whatever the case may be - and this might be a tough pill to swallow, but you are not for everyone - AND THAT’S OKAY! Let me be clear here: Targeting a specific market does not mean that you are excluding people who do not fit your criteria. Target marketing allows you to focus your marketing dollars and message on a specific market that is more likely to buy from you than other markets. This is a much more affordable, efficient, and effective way to reach potential clients and generate business.

Target Market Specifics & Buyer’s Persona:
It goes beyond basic demographics like gender, age, and income. Get inside the head of the consumer. What are they like? What do they do for a living? How do they spend their Friday nights and Sunday mornings? What is their attitude like? Do they have specific tendencies? Why would they want to purchase your goods or hire you for your services? What problems do they face and, more importantly, how can you solve them? You’ll hear us say this often when we work together: what is your “Buyer’s Persona?" How can you do this? Well, you need to literally create a fictional person with a story-line. The more specific the better.
