Our 2 top tools for communication and writing

If your team is anything like ours, we're always looking for ways to improve. We strive for maximized efficiency and an organized workflow. We’ve tried A LOT of programs and apps. These are two that stand out to us that we feel just about everyone can benefit from!

There are a plethora of options to choose from. If you try one and it’s not for you - don’t despair, download something else and give it a go. (Most programs or apps that are paid also offer free trials, too.) Above all, make sure you are giving it a fair shot!

First up...

Grammarly is not your average grammatical checker! Infused with the highest quality AI (artificial intelligence), Grammarly helps your writing become better understandable and ultimately helps you make the right impression, the first time around! When you're pushing out content or sending a lot of emails in a rush, you don’t want to get sloppy. It will ensure your writing is correct.

You might be thinking...my computer has spell-check and my phone is on auto-correct, so why do I even need this?

Here’s where Grammarly takes the cake!  Our favorite feature in Grammarly is that it can assess the tone of your overall writing. This is key because, in these times, messages can get easily misconstrued (and you know how we feel about that!)

We love that it integrates into your emails. You’ve heard the age-old tale and most likely lived it at least one time in your life. Someone misinterpreted the tone of your message and you had no idea! Or Vice Versa! This helps your message become crystal clear in its intentions and overall vibes. When downloaded on your phone, it can also help you with your social media! This can be especially helpful when answering questions or communicating with your audience on social media. The last thing you want is your viewers feeling you were rude, or your comments contain a lot of grammatical errors.

There is a premium version, but the free one works just fine! And no, we’re not sponsored or being paid to talk about this! (Grammarly, if you’re seeing this - call us ;) we know a thing or two about marketing)

You’ve probably heard of Slack before, as it’s quite popular. We want to talk about Slack as working from home has become the new normal. It’s a uniform and very organized platform for communicating with your team. We just love it for its versatility.

There are 3 ways you can communicate: direct messages, private channels, and group channels. Slack improves workflow and enhances communication - and especially in a time where many of us are remote, this is your answer!

It’s also a great way to send files to your team in one organized place if you're looking to streamline! They do offer a free version, but we prefer the standard plan for our business needs. It’s $6.67 per employee per month to open up the lines of communication and improve workflow. If you want to add outside members or clients to your channels, they can join for free.

80% of users say Slack has increased their team's transparency!

Sometimes people don't like change, especially when it comes in the form of workplace technology. So before you make the switch, we wanted to do our due diligence and provide you with some tips from Jostle for integrating new software in the workplace.

  • Make sure this switch is for the benefit of the entirety of the team!

  • Communicate this switch ahead of time, outline the benefits, and leave an open forum.

  • At your next team meeting, introduce the launch of this and provide training. Provide this in the form of not just written directions, but a visual presentation as well to apply to all types of learners.

  • Convey to your staff how this change will be beneficial to their specific individual position, so they see the value in it as well.

All our best,
The Team at socialtopia
