What are Reels? How do I make one? What will they do for me?

Introduced less than a year ago, Reels are short, entertaining videos you can share with your viewers! Many think of Reels as Instagram's version of TikTok, to give you a better comparison.
They can be shared to your Feed and shared on the Reels tab on your home screen! Originally, they were mixed in with the Explore tab, but when IG updated the app (which hint, hint, make sure you're always updating your apps for the best versions), you now access Reels with the center button on the home screen of the Instagram app (shown to the right of 'Search').
Ultimately, Reels is here to help you build your online community and increase your reach! One thing we love about Reels is it promotes humanizing your page. We talk about that a lot here at socialtopia - but with good reason. Everything doesn't need to be so picture-perfect and with Reels you can be yourself and have fun with it. You can showcase who you really are as a brand and resonate with people all over the globe! (Yes, Reels is available in the US and 50 other countries so far!)
Another huge upside is you can create tutorials on Reels and provide viewers with education. This will aid in building up your brand authority. (See how it all comes full circle?) Select your music, speed, and filters.
-open IG stories and select “reels” on the bottom
-you can search for a song or use your own sound in the background
-select your timer/countdown if you want to record hands-free
-add any filters you’d like
Capture the content
-press & hold to record
-after you’re done recording, you can add effects and stickers
-then you can choose what parts of the recording you would like to add text to
Sharing
-once you’re don, hit ‘next’
-add your captions & hashtags
-toggle ‘share to feed’ so your followers will see it in their feeds
-congrats! You just made your first reels!
