Did you know 80% of videos are watched on mute?
Take a visual trip with me here...
We all have similar scrolling mentalities:
Open up your feed.
Scroll, scroll, scroll.
What do we see?
'That pic of their dinner looks good.'
'Where are they on vacation?'
'Mark is at the gym...I should go to the gym.'
*STOP*: A Video
I'm slowing my scroll and I'm intrigued.
There are captions!

Hands down, video content is the most engaging form of content you can produce. Consumers gravitate toward videos over images as they are of course more entertaining.
If you're thinking “My videos don’t have captions, so did they not hear what I said?” - unfortunately, that could be the case. The message you took so long to craft was lost in translation.
Imagine all the work you did, all the meetings, the adjusted budgets, and long hours to create a new campaign you introduced in a video - and not everyone received the message properly.
Many people watch videos in public on mute to not disturb others.
Captions boost engagement and view time.
If the video has dialogue, those who are hearing impaired will not be able to understand the context.
To account for ESOL, some people may understand better by reading rather than listening.
Captions take time. (We know, we know - another added task while posting.) It's work, but it's WORTH IT. It’s (past) time that everyone gets on board in making captions a non-negotiable in their social media marketing campaigns.
Here at socialtopia, our content creators incorporate captions into every single video we produce because we know it's worth the time and we have an obligation to our clients and our audience. We can do that for you, too. We believe in accessibility for all.
